Flourish is a platform for visualising and storytelling with data. It lets JavaScript developers produce templates that non-coders can use to edit and publish data-driven and interactive content.

The Flourish SDK

The Flourish SDK is our command-line tool for developing templates locally and uploading them to the Flourish website for others to use. There is no limit to what a template can be or do, how you can write your code, what libraries you can use, etc. The only requirement is that the template includes a JavaScript file with the correct top-level structure and a yml configuration file.

Get started with the SDK

Flourish Studio

Once you’re happy with your template, you can upload it to Flourish Studio, the interactive environment where users can add their own data, change the settings, etc.

Your users can enter and edit their own data (in the browser) and set the configuration options you make available. The result is an interactive graphic that can be published, embedded, downloaded or used as the basis of a structured story.

By default, templates are freely available for anyone to use, but it’s also possible to create private templates for use within a particular business or newsroom.
