Hi everyone,
As the year comes to a close, we’re taking a look back at the year that was 2021 – as well as highlighting some new Flourish features, should you have some free time to get visualizing over the holidays!
Flourish year in review 2021
In our annual year in review blog post, we look back at milestones across our community, product and company. Although this year felt like an extension of the previous one in many ways, we’re grateful for our expanding Flourish community and amazed by all the incredible visualizations you’ve created in 2021.
Introducing heatmaps, raster tiles and popup panels to our “3D map” template
It was already jam-packed with features, but we just can’t help adding more: our “3D map” template recently received some powerful updates.
Improved data joining and downloading
Merging two datasets into one based on a column of shared values has always been possible in Flourish, but we’ve now made the process a lot more intuitive and powerful – and added a functionality for downloading GeoJSON files directly from your data tab.
January webinars
Our “Tea Break” webinars – available to all users – are a great way to learn about new parts of the Flourish world. Our next topics are an overview of our “Photo slider” template on the 4th January and an advanced session on our “3D map” template on the 18th January. Join us to learn more about how to make the most of your Flourish visuals.
Can’t make it? No problem. You can find all the recordings of our previous webinars on our YouTube channel.

Other updates
• When creating a grid of line or area charts in our “Line, bar, pie” template, it’s now possible to not include zero in the Y axis.
• You can now pause autoplay on hover in our “Cards” template.
• For companies with SSO set up, company administrators can now add and update SAML federation IDs.
• You can learn all about embed scripts, integration and analytics in our new section on embedding in our developer docs.
We’re hiring!
The Flourish team just about doubled in 2021 and we’re looking to grow even more in the new year. We’re currently looking for a senior visualization developer and a senior developer/tech lead.
• Does this sound like you or someone you know? Apply now or spread the word!
We’ll be back in the new year with more updates. Until then, as always, just hit reply with any ideas, questions or feedback – and keep an eye on the changelog for more updates!
Wishing you a fantastic festive season,
Luisa and the Flourish team
