It’s a Barbie world, we’re just living in it

If you have a working internet connection, you’re probably familiar with the term Barbenheimer. It refers to the simultaneous release of the films “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” last weekend, which developed into a social media phenomenon. Beyond the buzz, we wanted to see their actual impact. Both films boosted box office earnings bringing in $236 million in the US and Canada, but Barbie delivered more than half of the profits —$155 million— and registered the largest domestic opening of 2023.

The rise of Carlos Alcaraz, tennis’ newest superstar

Wimbledon ended over a week ago and it may have marked the start of a new tennis era. Carlos Alcaraz upset Novak Djokovic in a nail-biting match. Alcaraz has risen to tennis stardom at superspeed after becoming the youngest player, reaching the #1 spot on the ATP ranking at 19. Fun fact: Alcaraz was 4 years old when Djokovic won his first Grand Slam – talk about an age gap!
