Create an interactive emoji marker map

Start by telling the LLM what your locations represent and the story behind them: trips taken, notable places, planned visits or locations tied to a developing news story. The more context you give, the more the marker choices will reflect your narrative.

Add your location list next, either pasted directly or uploaded as a file. Include any details you want to shape the map, such as categories, years visited, short notes or memories. These extra fields can help the Connector choose more relevant emoji markers and build richer popups.

Add a meaningful title that fits the story and context-building subtitle.

Need to swap an emoji, fix a place name or add new destinations? Ask the Connector to update the map with a single prompt – it can apply changes across your pins without you editing each one manually.

Make these changes to the map: swap the Tokyo emoji to 🍥. 

Add a country column to the data and display this info in the popup.

Open the map in Flourish to fine-tune details that need a visual check, such as zoom level, popup layout and marker placement. Use the Flourish Assistant to describe edits in plain language, then apply them one at a time or group related changes into a single prompt.

Change map style to a custom palette that's fit for print. Ensure adequate contrast.
